Just returned from a week chillaxing at the Rocklands Apartments in Hastings. They are sited on East Hill on the edge of the caravan park. The site is beautiful, very quite and peaceful and with a lovely view down the hill to the sea. Under a large tree you will see rabbits and in the evening a fox and a family of badgers come to visit. They all live happily alongside each other.
The apartments are immaculate and the owner Joan makes you feel welcome and explains everything to you. She is close by if you need her but never intrusive in any way. Everything you need is provided in the apartment, including items like washing up liquid, foil and kitchen roll etc, all the things you always need but other owners never provide. The town of Hastings can be reached on foot from the apartments across the country park and down to the town using either the steps or the East Hill lift which is a funicular railway, which closes at teatime. It was nice to be able to reach the town quickly but be away from the hustle and bustle in the peace and quiet of Rocklands.
If you are a member of the National Trust there are a number of properties within a 50 mile radius to visit and a drive out to the Birling Gap and The Seven Sisters was a worthwhile visit.
Whilst at Rocklands we were fortunate to see the “Strawberry Moon” and had a great view from the apartment of it rising in the sky and shining over the sea.
All in all I would be happy to recommend a stay at Rocklands especially if you want to get away from it all. (If you want to be out and about at night in pubs and restaurants you will either need a nominated driver or a taxi, but it’s 5 minutes by car into town).
