Rocklands Apartments are in a lovely situation overlooking the sea. They have been built to a fairly high specification and include all mod cons including power showers, underfloor heating (I think – we couldn’t find the source anyway!), TV with Freeview and wi-fi. The kitchen was kitted out with everything we could possibly have needed including washing up liquid, cloths, tea and coffee and even a pint of milk in the fridge, thank you Joan. It was nice to find shower gel and soap in the bathroom, something only usually offered in hotels. Everywhere was clean, the beds and sofas were comfortable and we loved sitting and watching the local wildlife from the patio windows – never having seen badgers in the wild before. The park itself was very quiet which (being ladies of a certain age) suited us. We could hear the guests in the apartment above but it wasn’t particularly obtrusive.
Hastings old town is very picturesque and around a fifteen minute walk via the East Hill steps. There is a funicular lift down to the bottom which we resisted but for those who struggle with steps it’s a useful option. The climb back up is a little more challenging and not advisable in the dark. Coming back the ‘road’ way could take a good half hour to an hour but Joan advised that local taxis are very cheap and there were telephone numbers for them in the information pack. Our only complaint? The weather was unseasonably awful! But we appreciate that’s not within anyone’s control 🙂
